Fact Checking Policy

The rule

Nothing numeric is published unless it can be read in a document from the provider or a regulator. Press coverage, aggregator listings and provider ad copy are treated as leads to verify, never as sources.

What gets checked

• Fees, charges, interest ranges and expense ratios.
• Eligibility conditions, minimums, tenures and lock-ins.
• Benefit caps, exclusions and waiting periods.
• Claim ratios, network sizes and other statistics attributed to a regulator.

Sign-off

1. Researcher records the value and a link or citation to the source document.
2. A second reviewer independently opens the source and confirms the value.
3. Disagreements are resolved by returning to the primary document, not by averaging.
4. The page is stamped with a verification date on publish.

When a claim cannot be verified

The field is left blank, or the claim is dropped. We do not publish "approx", modelled or inferred numbers as if they were disclosed. If a provider's own documents conflict, we publish the more conservative figure and note the conflict.

Ongoing re-checks

Rate-sensitive data is re-checked on a rolling basis, and any user-reported discrepancy is treated as a priority re-check. Confirmed errors are corrected under our Corrections Policy.
